the Rich food: Shepherd Pie.

9:22 AM

Bismillah, so another recipe to share~ Yay!! or Nay??

Why the title is Rich food? Because Shepherd Pie is rich of leisure and excitement which are cheese and black pepper. People eat cheese to feel luxury, and black pepper can be hot and sweet which result in excitement ;P

So before we go to the recipe, allow me to share some history of it. Recently, they said that cottage pie is minced meat of beef, while shepherd pie is referred to minced meat of lamb, even though there is no difference, proved by the history. The term cottage pie was first used because, it was meant for the poor people food. Cottage is meant to dwell by poor farmers, and potatoes is the affordable crops that they can afford. So according to history this pie is made from left over meats and made into a new meal. Wow~ So nice bed story time. ^^ (kite org sng makan makanan org sush dieorang, dat is what i called fabulous )

So what do you need for this Pie?

+potatoes ( a lot )
+minced meat (make sure its fresh) i mix both lamb and beef~
+black pepper sauce ( make it sure buy the concentrated one, it tastes better )
+onion
+carrot
+mushrooms
+mr. salt and mrs. pepper
+mozarella cheese
+olive oil
+egg

1) Boil the potatoes after peeling them, and cut them into small sizes. The smaller the easier for you to mash them later.

2) Mash the potatoes with salt, egg, and some mozzarella.

3)Then, heat up the pot, with olive oil, add onion into it, and when the onion sweats (as my mom said,  aka layu), put in the minced meat, put some salt and pepper and cook them well until it turn brownish. Then pour in the black pepper sauce. The measurement depends on your preferences, but since i like to taste the meat more black pepper-ish, i would avoid the sauce become too saucy. And please be concern about the brand of black pepper sauce, cause all of them giving different taste and concentration.  I used three different brands. (since our house favour black pepper so much). Don't forget to put your mushrooms and carrot in.

4)Then put the minced meat into your tray. Lay the mashed potatoes on them, then "sprinkle" some mozzarella on them. Why i say sprinkle? Bcoz for me chesse is a magic ^^hehehe. it tastes so damn good.

5) Set the oven to 400 celcius (which it is advisable to preheat the oven 110-15 minutes before). Let the Shepherd Pie "sweating" in the oven sauna for about 30-40 minutes. When you see it become golden and little 'black', done! Thats your lovely Shepherd Pie.

P/s: So what? Have a try!
